- Litterbox Problems
The most common litterbox problems can often easily be solved! Here are
a
couple "tricks" to keep in mind:
- Cats do not like to use dirty boxes. Clean your litterboxes every day.
- Cats do not like it when you change their brand of litter, and they often
do not like scented litter.
- The rule is, 1 litter box per cat, plus 1 (many people have even more!)
Cats sometimes like to go #1 in one box and #2 in another.
-
Make sure to have at least one box located on every level of your home or apartment.
-
Do not change the location of the boxes as this can confuse your cat. Unless
your cat had a bad experience in a box (was scared by a loud noise, the dog
scared her while she was using it, etc.) then you should move the box, as kitty
might associate this negative experience with the box and no longer use it.
- If your cat still is not using his or her box properly, please consult your
veterinarian. There could be a health problem behind the behavior.

Common Parasites
Parasites are commonly found in cats and kittens who have been exposed to the outdoors. Many of the cats and kittens we rescue are strays, and some have had parasites that we have treated them for. Most parasites are very easy to treat with the proper medications as recommended by your veterinarian.
We strongly recommend NOT allowing your cat outdoors. This exposes them not only to parasites, but also to life-threatening diseases and danger from vehicles and cruel people.
The most common parasites in cats and kittens are:
Coccidia
Giardia
Hookworms
Roundworms
Tapeworms
Fleas
Ticks
