Buffy Finds a Home!

Oldest shelter resident and unofficial “greeter” finally finds a family!

We are excited to announce that Buffy, one of the sweetest, most wonderful kitties in the world, and our oldest shelter resident at 12 years old, has been adopted! Buffy has been with Michelle, the director of Saving Paws, since October 2004. After following potential adopters around for years, asking politely to be petted, her efforts have finally paid off!

Buffy went to her new forever home on June 8, 2007 with Liz, Sherry, Zeke and Zephyr. She is already adjusting well, and her new family loves her! Here are a couple updates from them:

Update #1

“You just can hardly believe how well Buffy is doing. She and our Fox Terrier "Zeke" get along well ALREADY(!) swapping sleeping time in the open-doored pet carrier that she prefers as a safe haven…

Right now she is sleeping on one of the rockers, having figured out that the motion will not unload her. She has begun to roll over for us and stretch out her paws toward us, as well as head-butting us at every possible opportunity…

We have every reason to think that she is adjusting quickly and feeling more and more safe and confident. Today she explored the larger realms of the house for awhile…We are impressed with how healthy and well-adjusted she is - clear signs of having been cared for in the best sense of the words.

Thanks to everyone who carried her safely to this point. I have had cats - and other pets - all my long life, and know what it means to see them through their whole lives. It's such an enriching experience."

Update #2

"Just now, while I type, Buffy (we have decided to name her "Nell") is sleeping on a box next to me. She has been here quite awhile, most of the time with her white tummy facing up. Every once in awhile, she reaches out a paw…

What a little nutball she is early in the morning. She flies so fast through the house, wrinkling up all the little throw rugs and turning corners on dimes. At night you can hear her smacking a pingpong ball around…

She has a funny meow sometimes in which she mostly expresses air, as if lightly clearing her throat. We thought at first she might be coughing a little, but she only does it when she is being nutty. She also has a more traditional meow which she uses on our other cat, or just for general commentary…

It is so easy to love her…she seems like we brought her up. Very affectionate; not fussy about having her paws touched or her chin or belly or tail. Purrs readily and keeps going after you've left her. She is every bit the "greeter" that was described on your list of potential adoptees.

Once again, we are really impressed with her healthiness and her great manners with people. You are all to be commended for your excellent care of her.

We so like having her here. Guess we were just lucky to find her."

All good wishes from Buffy's new family,

Liz, Sherry, Zeke and Zephyr
